Contract Signing for O&M of Malaya Thermal Power Plant

The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation awarded anew to Korean firm STX Marine Service Co., Ltd. the contract for the Operations and Maintenance Service of the 650-megawatt (MW) Malaya Thermal Power Plant (TPP). The duration of the contract runs from 25 August 2017 until 25 August 2018.

 

Last 18 August 2017, STX Marine and PSALM held a simple contract signing ceremony at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City, sealing the deal for this new venture.  Part of STX Marine’s responsibilities are the day-to-day upkeep, management and maintenance or repair of the power plant and its equipment.

 

Situated in Pililia, Rizal Province, the Malaya plant consists of a 300-MW unit with a once-through type boiler and a 350-MW unit fitted with conventional boiler.

 

The Malaya TPP was designated as a must-run unit by the Department of Energy to address supply deficiency when operating power plants in the grid suddenly become unavailable.
