Turnover Ceremony of Sucat Thermal Power Plant (STPP)

Last 02 August 2017, the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation officially closed the sale of the structures, plant equipment, auxiliaries, and accessories of the decommissioned Sucat Thermal Power Plant to the Riverbend Consolidated Mining Corporation.

In a simple ceremony held in Muntinlupa City, PSALM Officer-in-Charge Lourdes S. Alzona and Riverbend President Nicanor L. Escalante officially signed the turnover documents of STPP. The event was graced by the community’s local officials, personnel from the National Power Corporation who have been overseeing STPP since it was owned by the Manila Electric Company, and officers from PSALM and Riverbend.

As the buyer of STPP, Riverbend is tasked to dismantle the plant site to ground zero, clear of toxic substances and debris by February 2020.

The dismantling of STPP will pave the way for new economic activities in the area.
