On 15 September 2022, the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) conducted the 2022 Mindanao Power Customers Forum and Information-Education Campaign with the Collecting Entities of the Universal Charge at Dusit D2 Hotel in Davao City. This was PSALM’s first face-to-face power customers forum since the halting of actual gatherings back in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
Key representatives from electric cooperatives and other power distribution firms based in Mindanao attended the forum. The forum updated collecting entities with the latest updates on the Universal Charge and apprised them on advisories from the Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy.
PSALM also provided attendees with recent information on the implementation of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) in the Mindanao Grid. Electric cooperatives and distribution utilities were encouraged to use the improvements brought by WESM for the benefit of electricity consumers.
