PSALM’s GAD-FPS distributes anti-COVID health kits in Barangay Abuyo 1 and 2, Nueva Vizcaya

With the ongoing pandemic, no community can afford to be complacent on cleanliness and hygienic practices. Driven by the goal of helping communities fight the pandemic through hygienic practices, the PSALM Gender and Development – Focal Point System (GAD-FPS) Technical Working Group and volunteers distributed anti-COVID health kits on 26 October 2021 to residents of Barangay Abuyo 1 and 2 in Nueva Vizcaya in coordination with barangay officials led by Barangay Chairperson Juanito H. Gumunot. A total of 830 health kits were distributed to the barangay’s residents. Each health kit consisted of antiseptic alcohol, face masks and shields.

The GAD-FPS gave a short talk on measures to minimize the transmission of viruses and other pathogens. The talk inculcated the importance of frequent hand washing, wearing a mask and face shield, limiting social gatherings and observing physical distancing. The anti-COVID health kits distribution program is one of the PSALM GAD’s flagship programs for 2021.

Barangay Abuyo 1 and 2 are in proximity to the Casecnan Multi-Purpose Project, a hydroelectric power plant managed by the California Energy Casecnan Water and Energy Company, Inc., which is one of PSALM’s independent power producer (IPP) administrators. The GAD-FPS holds gender and development related events in the host communities nearby PSALM’s power generation assets.
