Health mission for Yolanda victims at Estancia, Iloilo

On 15 May 2014, PSALM volunteers visited Botongon Elementary School in Estancia, Iloilo for a one-day health mission for the residents of the Yolanda-stricken barangay.

PSALM’s 23-man team was joined by the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division to provide the locals with medical and dental checkup and consultation, tooth extraction and circumcision.  In addition to the services given, medicine and vitamins were also distributed to everyone who came to participate.

Volunteers from the Barangay Botongon local government, National Power Corporation, and the Philippine Coast Guard, as well as medical students from the University of the Philippines – Visayas and other Iloilo medical schools also gave their support for the activity.

Every mission aims to make a difference, and indeed, each volunteer who worked for almost nine hours that day made a difference, one patient at a time.
