PSALM remains committed to tree planting as integral to an environmentally-sustainable energy sector

Environmental projects, such as tree planting, are integral to sustainable power generation, distribution and management. This has been the driving mantra that inspires volunteers to participate in PSALM’s tree planting activities through the years.

On 28 October 2022, PSALM volunteers joined forces with the team from National Irrigation Administration (NIA)-Lower Agno River Irrigation System Improvement Project (LARISIP) to plant Narra and Mahogany tree seedlings in Sitio Calanutan, Brgy. San Felipe West, San Nicolas, Pangasinan. The LARISIP project irrigates 12,650 hectares that help at least 10,000 farmers in Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.

PSALM volunteers were able to plant 500 seedlings in the land nearby the host community of the 345-megawatt San Roque Hydroelectric Power Plant.

A portion of PSALM’s San Roque property, a 22-hectare lot, was lent to NIA under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on 01 April 2022. Part of the terms of the MOA between PSALM and NIA is for the latter to revegetate the site by planting trees of various species.
