PSALM signs multiple contracts for the supply of electricity in Luzon and Mindanao

25 Jul 2023

The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation has signed multiple contracts for the provision of electric energy (CSEE) with the electric cooperatives (ECs) of Luzon and Mindanao to satisfy the energy needs of these regions.

PSALM recognizes that the continuous operation of electric cooperatives (ECs) is critical to the economic efficiency of the franchise area they serve, with ramifications for national economic growth. The ECs are committed to providing their communities with safe, affordable, and dependable electricity. These ECs must engage with PSALM to continue legally drawing electricity from the grid.

Currently, PSALM provides electricity to twenty-three (23) customers in Luzon and fifty (50) more in Mindanao. The CSEEs will improve the power cooperatives' operations and benefit the end users.

PSALM will continue to contract its available capacity to serve electric cooperatives. Interested ECs may send a Letter of Interest (LOI) to PSALM outlining their desired energy capacity.

As permitted by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (EPIRA), PSALM oversees the government power sector's assets and liabilities formerly owned by the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR).
