PSALM’s Computer Transfers: Gradual Steps Toward Narrowing the Technological Gap

Technological gap remains a difficult educational hurdle in most public schools in the country. Reducing this gap requires increasing access to learning technologies, understanding the root cause of the inadequacy of technological tools, and improving digital literacy training in schools and similar institutions. For several years, PSALM Corporation has been advocating digital literacy among public school students through the regular conduct of its computer transfers as its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.

PSALM donates used but highly functional desktop computers to government schools and offices who requested from the Corporation depending on the availability of resources.

On 23-30 April and 02 May 2025, PSALM donated eight (8) desktop computers to each of the following public schools, or a total of forty-eight (48) units:

  1. Talisay Integrated School, Tiaong, Quezon Province
  2. Tagabas Ilaya Elementary School, Quezon Province
  3. Baleno Central School, Province of Masbate
  4. Laucan Elementary School, Province of Masbate
  5. San Francisco Xavier High School, San Francisco, Bulacan
  6. Magdalena Umali Suyon Memorial School, Oriental Mindoro

School officials profusely thanked PSALM’s CSR volunteers composed of Benjamin Roque, Evelyn Ranque, Jimmy Mercado and Gerry Rejano of the Human Resource and Administrative Services Department (HRASD) for facilitating the transportation of the desktops all the way from Quezon City to their respective localities. In particular, Baleno Central School posted in its official Facebook page a heartfelt message of thanks. “We are truly grateful to PSALM Corporation for generously donating eight desktop computers to our BCS Learners. Our heartfelt thanks also to Corporate Staff Specialist of PSALM’s Corporate Legal Department Atty. Patrick B. Cortes and Kagawad Blessy B. Cortes, our dedicated Barangay Representative in Education, for their unwavering support. Special thanks also to Mrs. Cecile Virtucio for her outstanding coordination in making this possible, representing the SELG Organization,” the school stated.

PSALM acknowledges the cordial reception given to its CSR volunteers by the following school officials:
